Bonjour à toutes,

Il est 10h30 ce dimanche, je vous écris d’un café en face du marché d’Aligre – ravalement oblige. Je lève la tête et il neige, mais pas de parapluie en vue. 

La vidéo : le doute créatif

Peu d’avancement par rapport à la semaine dernière. Je travaille toujours sur ma vidéo de parapluie. J’étais plutôt satisfaite jusqu’en milieu de semaine et puis soudainement je me suis dit qu’elle était nulle – visuellement trop différente d’une séquence à l’autre, comme si chaque partie appartenait à un film différent.

Je ne sais pas pourquoi je fais toujours ça. J’ai souvent un sentiment d’inabouti dans mes projets. 

Comme il pleuvait vendredi, je suis ressortie à la tombée de la nuit pour filmer la pluie à Bastille. Initialement, je voulais capturer des parapluies mais il n’y en avait pas tant que ça.

Je viens de finir un nouveau montage avec ces images en première séquence. Je ne suis pas encore sûre que ce soit la bonne direction, mais cela crée une atmosphère plus cohérente. J’ai maintenant tant de versions que je m’y perds un peu.

Un break me ferait sans doute du bien, mais je ne sais pas quand je vais retravailler alors je me dis qu’il faut avancer au maximum avant ça.

L’expo Change Slowly

J’ai également réfléchi à l’agencement des images et textes pour l’exposition au Centre Verdier fin mars. Là aussi j’hésite, je tâtonne. J’ai fait quelques essais au mur. Mon appartement est maintenant couvert d’images.

À venir : Bordeaux

Je me réjouis d’un petit break à Bordeaux la semaine prochaine pour le festival Kaja Koréa. Si j’avais su que je ne travaillais pas, je serais restée plus longtemps – mais je ne sais jamais d’une semaine sur l’autre.

Voilà où j’en suis cette semaine.

Week 7 – Not much change

Hello everyone,

It’s 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, and I’m writing to you from a café opposite the Aligre market – renovation work obliges. I look up and it’s snowing, but no umbrella in sight.

The video: creative doubt

Not much progress since last week. I’m still working on my umbrella video. I was pretty happy with it until the middle of the week, and then suddenly I thought it was terrible – visually too different from one sequence to the other, as if each part belonged to a different film.

I don’t know why I always do this. I often feel that my projects are unresolved. 

It was raining Friday, so I went out again at dusk to film the rain at Bastille. Initially, I wanted to capture umbrellas, but there weren’t that many.

I just finished a new edit with these images for the first sequence of the video. I’m not sure yet if it’s the right direction. I now have so many versions that I’m a little lost.

A break would probably do me good, but I don’t know when I’ll be working again, so I try to make as much progress as possible before then.

The Change Slowly exhibition

I have also been thinking about the layout for the exhibition at the Centre Verdier at the end of March. Here too, I am hesitating and experimenting. I have done a few tests on the walls. My apartment is now covered with images.

Coming up: Bordeaux

I’m looking forward to a little break in Bordeaux next week for the Kaja Koréa festival. If I had known I wouldn’t be working, I would have stayed longer – but I never know from one week to the next.
